Northfield Increases Quarterly Stock Dividend and Announces Expanded Branch Hours
WOODBRIDGE, NJ August 4, 2014– NORTHFIELD BANCORP, INC. (NasdaqGS:NFBK), the holding company for Northfield Bank which operates 12 branch locations in Staten Island, recently reported earnings for the quarter and six months ended June 30, 2014. As part of the earnings announcement, the Board of Directors increased the quarterly cash dividend 16.7% to $0.07 per common share. This declared dividend will be payable on August 20, 2014, to stockholders of record as of August 6, 2014.
The 127 year old financial institution has demonstrated significant growth over the past seven years, expanding from 18 branches with $877.2 million in total deposits at December 31, 2007 to 30 branches with $1.48 billion in total deposits at June 30, 2014. Net income was $10.7 million for the six months ended June 30, 2014, an increase from net income of $9.1 million for the six month period ending June 30, 2013.
Northfield also announced that it will be expanding branch office hours effective September 2, 2014. Chairman and Chief Executive Officer John W. Alexander stated, "We understand that our customers live busy lifestyles and that their bank should be open when they need it. That is why we have analyzed each of our locations and we are now opening earlier and staying open later to make banking with Northfield more convenient. Many of our branches offer Sunday banking hours along with free coin counting machines for customers and non-customers." In addition to making banking more convenient in person, Northfield has invested heavily in providing customers technology to bank on the go with their mobile banking app for the iPhone, iPad, and Android devices along with mobile check deposit, mobile bill pay, and Popmoney personal payment.
